Social Skill Groups
Our Family Nest social groups are designed for clients ages 8-18 to put skills into practice. Through our 14 years of experience running social groups in a home setting, we have found that conducting social skill groups in a home setting versus a clinical therapy setting, increases participation of our clients and creates a relaxed atmosphere where all feel welcome.
The best way to practice new skills and to create friendships is through opportunity. Our aim is to establish a comfortable space where our clients can meet new peers and practice the social skills they are learning in a supportive setting.
Our Social groups are conducted in 6-week sessions that rotate through different themes and skills based on the targets of the clients.
Social group: 1 hr
-10 min: Get to know each other and introduce the focus skill of the session.
-30 min: Guided game with skills built in.
-20 min: Relaxed teen time. Share with the group your interests! Game consoles, card games, comic books., etc.
